Elective RTT below 4 weeks at St Peter’s Hospital

In conjunction with St Peter’s Cardiology Department and through efficient administration practices and careful planning, the InHealth Cardiac Unit at St Peter’s Hospital where InHealth has been a long standing trusted clinical provider of Interventional Cardiology, Electrophysiology and Device procedures since 1999, currently holds some of the shortest Referral to Treatment (RTT) wait times in the South-East region of England.

The InHealth Cardiac Unit is a self-contained two Cardiac Catheterisation Labs, 10-bedded Day Ward facility which opened in October 2013. Typical time scales from receipt of GP referral letter to pre-assessment appointment is 7 to 10 days, and from pre-assessment clinic to diagnostic procedure is 2-3 weeks. The Service operates from Monday to Friday and treats patients predominantly from the North-West Surrey Locality. As the unit is located adjacent to the Coronary Care Unit (BACU), non-elective in-patients clinically fit and awaiting an urgent procedure are treated within 24hours. In addition, patients from Epsom General Hospital awaiting an urgent appointment are treated on a ‘Treat and Return’ pathway, enabling patients on CCU at Epsom, to be discharged in a timely manner. The Service also provides a 24 hour, 365 day, primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (pPCI) service in collaboration with South East Coast Ambulance (SECAmb) and London Ambulance Services (LAS) treating patients who have had a heart attack in the community.
