InHealth Supports Second Hope

InHealth’s chosen charity for 2017 is Second Hope. This charity provides support to people specifically living with advanced breast cancer. Second Hope was founded by Julie Phillips, a relative of one of InHealth’s team.

Julie sadly passed away in September 2015 following a long battle with breast cancer that began in 2008. She worked incredibly hard to establish the charity before she passed away, but unfortunately, she missed the official launch date by a matter of days. Even on the day she passed away she was still sending e-mails to ensure things were getting done.

Today, the charity is run purely by volunteers, which means that all donations received go to fulfil their charitable aims and objectives, not to pay salaries or expensive overheads. The volunteers work tirelessly to raise funds to help many people who are either suffering from advanced breast cancer themselves, or supporting their families and friends.
Second Hope has four main objectives:

  • To raise awareness and increase knowledge of advanced breast cancer
  • To support and empower those diagnosed with and living with advanced breast cancer
  • To campaign on behalf of those affected by advanced breast cancer
  • To fund research into advanced breast cancer

Our objective is to raise £20,000 for Second Hope. We feel that this is a very worthy cause, aligned with our focus on making healthcare better for patients, but it is also particularly poignant as we have staff and family members who are personally affected by cancer.
